How BikeBuild works
BikeBuild is a planner, not a shop. We don’t sell, stock or ship anything — we help you pick parts that fit your bike and your budget, then send you to the shops that sell them.
How we pick
You choose a bike, a budget, how you ride and what you want to improve. We look at every part in our catalog that fits, score it for your goal and riding, and give more weight to parts that are a real step up from what your bike came with. Then we find the set that does the most for the money.
Picks are never ranked by commission. A shop that pays us nothing is shown exactly like one that does.
How fit is checked
Every part is checked against your bike’s standards: wheel size, axles, brake mounts, shock size, seatpost diameter and so on. If we don’t know a standard, the part says Not verified — we never guess that it fits.
These are recommendations, not a guarantee. Confirm with a mechanic before you install anything.
Prices
Prices are in Canadian dollars and checked by hand, with the date shown. After 30 days a price is marked “may have changed”; after 90 days we stop using it. Always check the shop’s page before you buy.
Shop links
Some shop links are affiliate links: if you buy, the shop may pay us a small commission. It never changes your price, and it never changes what we recommend.
AI summaries
“Why this upgrade?” can show a short AI-written summary. It’s written only from our own catalog notes, it is checked before you see it, and it never decides fit or price. If it isn’t available you get our usual reason instead.
